  • Financial Sector Legislative Reforms
  • Examine the Financial Sector Legislative Reforms Commission’s (FSLRC) Report and monitor the implementation of the reforms in financial sector laws recommended by the FSLRC and accepted by the Government
  • Formulation and finalisation of other legislative proposals to fill in the gaps in the present legislative framework and examination of the legislative proposals in the financial sector received from other Ministries/Departments, Financial Sector Regulators, and other stakeholders or developed suo-moto in the Division
  • The Fugitive Economic Offenders Act, 2018 and rules made thereunder
  • The Bilateral Netting of Qualified Financial Contracts Act, 2020

Financial Sector Reforms

  • Examinations of proposals related to financial sector reforms, which are non-legislative in nature, received from other Ministries/Departments, Financial Sector Regulators, and the concerned stakeholders or developed suo-moto in the Division.
  • Examination of Financial Sector Legislative Reforms Commission’s Report and implementation of the non-legislative recommendations contained in the Report.
  • To determine the inflation target in terms of the Consumer Price Index, once in every five years, as per Section 45ZA of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934.
  • To constitute a Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) and to appoint three external members to the MPC, as per section 45ZB of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934.
  • Issues related to the High-Level Strategy Committee (HLSC) on deployment of Foreign Exchange Reserves.
